Responsibilities

Install, repair, and service pipes, fixtures, valves, pumps, water heaters, filtration products, disposers, boilers, lift stations, and other plumbing and mechanical equipment at the job site.
Read and interpret building codes, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine plumbing plans and project specifications.
Cut, assemble, and weld pipes using a variety of materials, including steel, PVC, and copper to facilitate installations without causing damage to existing construction.
Test plumbing systems for leaks and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
Diagnose plumbing issues, troubleshoot system failures, and recommend effective solutions.
Collaborate with contractors, electricians and other trade workers on the site to deliver smooth and effective project completion.
Maintain and inspect all tools, equipment and safety equipment and inform supervisors of defective tools, hazardous material conditions or project concerns.
Accomplish the plumber job on their own or together with other team workers and contractors for customer satisfaction.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and project safety protocols.
Use hand tools, power tools (including chippers, saws, and soldering equipment), powder-actuated tools and heavy machinery as required for construction plumber jobs.
Perform physical labor that may involve bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, digging, excavating, stretching, working at heights and loading and unloading equipment and materials.
Perform tasks under various conditions like cramped space, attics, trenches, rooftops, multi-story buildings, indoors and outdoors, and in hot, cold, damp or wet weather conditions.
Work in a range of lighting conditions, from daylight and artificial light to low light or semidarkness.
Qualifications
For Entry-Level Positions:
To be eligible for plumber jobs, the candidate should:
Possess working knowledge of plumbing codes, plumbing installation techniques, construction codes and practices.
Be able to read, interpret, understand and explain blueprints and isometric drawings, construction drawing and specifications.
Able to communicate well with supervisors, project managers, dispatchers, inspectors, helpers and customers.
Able to write with respect to work performed, project conditions, scheduling, progress, materials and other essential information required to be communicated.
Capacity to use various plumbing tools and equipment such as pipe cutters, wrenches and soldering tools.
Possess and maintain own hand tools required for essential tasks while on the plumbing jobs.
Must have excellent trouble shooting skills and eye for detail to identify and fix plumbing issues quickly.
Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Must have good interpersonal skills to work within a team in harmony.
Plumbing, math and technical skill levels vary based on employer and position. The more experience, the higher the demand.
Preferred (but not always required, depending on the location): Valid plumbing license/ certification
Preferred/ Good to have: OSHA 10/30, Journeyman’s license, Forklift certification, Lift/Boom certification, Backhoe certification, CPR, First Aid.
Good physical condition and able to lift 50 lbs.
