Responsibilities

    • Assembling, installing, and repairing water, sewer and storm drainage underground pipes and fittings. 

    • Laying and securing metallic and PVC pipes, including ductile iron, steel and concrete pipe. 

    • Preparing trenches by directing excavation, grading and leveling to allow proper pipe placement. 

    • Assisting equipment operators in guiding and setting pipes. 

    • Mounting and running pipe lasers and transits to determine proper installation. 

    • Locating and marking proper positions for underground fittings and pipes. 

    • Valve, fitting and pipe installation by various means, i.e., screw, bolt, solder, solvent cement. 

    • Leak testing of pipes and measuring, cutting and installing pipes to specifications. 

    • Backfill around the pipe with the use of hand tools to ensure proper coverage and support. 

    • Executing general laborer work as needed, including site cleanup and material handling. 

    • Adherence to all safety regulations in the workplace and company policies.

Qualifications

For Construction Pipelayer Positions:

  • Experience in pipe installation work with large-diameter water, sewer and storm drain systems. The more experience, the higher the demand.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and project specifications. 

  • Physical stamina to work long hours on their feet and do physically demanding tasks. 

  • Ability to understand and comply with directions while performing assigned tasks proficiently. 

  • Willingness to do job-specific certifications if needed, which are: Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training.

  • Availability for overtime as per project schedules.
